Ryan's Great Adventures

Volume 96: Tuesday November 24, 2009

This just in! Pictures! Jackie, who you met in volume 95 on September 27th, just e-mailed me photos of her hike along the Juan de Fuca Trail with a note saying, "You should have some pictures." =) Jackie and Mike hiked from the China Beach trailhead to Sombrio Beach over three days, crossing paths with me while camped at Chin Beach on their last night on the trail (and my second-to-last night on the trail). I'm not exactly sure where each and every one of these pictures was taken, but they're in the opposite direction that I hiked.

A log ladder, heading down to Mystic Beach.

Mystic Beach, hiked through, but I didn't camp here.

Scenic overlook somewhere along the trail. They all start to look alike after awhile, so I can't really guess which one this photo was taken at. =)

I think this is Bear Beach, where I camped the last night.

The other direction along Bear Beach.

Sunset on Bear Beach. Much prettier than the night I camped there! Rain, rain, rain..... What a difference a day makes! =)

September 27

The north side of Bear Beach.

Pretty self explanatory....

Not sure which stream this is, but it looks a bit like Swiss cheese, don't you think?

An emergency shelter near Chin Beach.

Sunset at Chin Beach. My campsite would have been to the right, where I was cooking and eating dinner by around this time.

Jackie e-mailed me a lot of photos of this sunset, and really, who can blame her? It was absolutely awesome!

September 28

One of the suspension bridges of the Juan de Fuca Trail. There's a picture of me on it that a group of hikers said they'd sent to me, but alas, I haven't gotten it. =(

It would be kind of strange if Jackie and Mike had been taking pictures of other people's feet, which makes me think these are probably their feet on the suspension bridge. =)

I just love the views of these little chasms!

By the time they got off the trail at Sombrio Beach, the weather had taken a turn for the worst. Fortunately for them, they were getting off the trail. I'd be camped out under my tarp for the rest of the day and night.

Thanks for the pictures, Jackie! =)
